The Adventure Continues
Greetings from Bali
Where it's all happening at pace. Last week I was telling you about why we bought a beach bar, and if you missed that you can catch up here.
We also announced that this month we will repatriate all profits from products sourced from Turkey back to Turkey to help the earthquake relief . One family that produces the Kilm rugs we sell is homeless and living in his car. Our lovely agent contacted him with an offer of help, and he told us that he was relatively OK but local people actually need food, so he would spend our donation feeding people. That's just one heartbreaking story.. she has been working tirelessly identifying personal contacts in need that in small ways we can help.- even visiting a refugee centre personally and offering to help.
She has sent money to six different families in six different cities. Each time sending me awful details of the situation and a copy of the bank transfer.
Thank you to everyone stocking Turkish products. A special thanks to our Agent Hatice, for actually making a difference.
Meanwhile here in Bali, we are cracking on making things happen.
The beach bar project, which is being converted into a cool office space to attract young talented people - is at that stage where everything has been ripped apart, apparently a big mess but actually organised chaos as we put it all back together. Tomas has been buying just the right shades of paint ordering big rattan lamps, the plans are set and a team of young industrious guys are on it. Very soon it will be cool.
In the meantime we have been brainstorming and working on the basics of the product that will leap like a magic from this space and revolutionise your business.
But of course - as I say often - the most important thing is the giftware products and we spend the mornings still doing that job.. the Lombok Vases arrived in the UK and early feedback is that people love them, they are selling well, so we are quickly adding to the range. The boss, who is a lovely gentle guy with kind intelligent eyes, came to our office in Sukawati with samples straight off the boat from Lombok.
Sitting on the floor, that's our guy from Lombok, Ringo and in the back Bondan and Raul. Tomas taking a selfie as the deal is done.
Soon the adventure continues - we have to work hard another week and then soon we head to Nepal.. our first visit since before the pandemic.
After putting the wheels in motion here, we will be 100% focused on Nepal and India products for a full month, after which the plan is to return here by which time everything should be in place to rock and roll.
Stay tuned..
Once again thank you for all your support.
Take care - wishing you a wonderful weekend.
David
