David's AW News: For the Cosmic Record
Greetings From Spain.
Monday again… and the
football has started.
Last week I was telling you about life here in Spain, the
warehouse, Peter and Tamara’s wedding, Slovakia’s 9th birthday, Kane moving on
to his dream job, and all the usual Ancient Wisdom comings and goings. If you
missed it, you can catch up here.
This week, things are looking up.
I finally have a date to collect my NIE card here in Spain.
Once that little card is safely in my hand, I can travel outside Spain again
without the usual paperwork drama, border complications, or me trying to
explain myself in my best emergency Spanish.
Coco is coming to Spain soon too, so travel plans are being
made, bags are being half-packed, and life suddenly feels like it is moving
forward again.
Meanwhile, we are deep in the middle of Midsummer Madness. And honestly… it is living up to the name. Today is Day 6 — Garden Magic!
Rasos — the Festival of Dew.
Fun Fact for today: In
Lithuania, Midsummer is also known as Rasos — the Festival of Dew. People once
believed that the dew gathered on Midsummer morning had special power, and that
herbs picked at this time were at their strongest. A wash in the morning dew, a
dip in the water, a gathering of flowers and herbs — it was summer self-care
long before anyone invented the phrase.
Every day we are learning some crazy midsummer fact, some
strange tradition, some bonfire ritual, some odd little historical thing about
summer, luck, light, flowers, water, fire, wishes and general seasonal madness.
It is slightly affecting everyone. Our Alex came to work and
immediately fell over - so keen to get to the deals. Captured on the CCTV..
Don't worry he is fine.
The deals have also got a little bit out of hand. Perhaps
too enthusiastic. Perhaps someone should have been supervising the discount
button more carefully.
But it is what it is.
For a few more days, we have sweeping voucher discounts,
special 48-hour family deals, extra surprises, and the odd little gift thrown
in because, well… we seem to have gone a bit mad.
This is a good moment to stock up, try something new, fill a gap in your shop, or grab one of those product families you have been meaning to test for ages.
And then Sunday is
Father’s Day.
This year it falls on
the same day as the summer solstice — the longest day of the year — and,
just to complete the strange cosmic triangle, the World Cup is underway too.
Father’s Day, the summer solstice, and World Cup football
all circling around the same weekend.
Not quite once-in-a-lifetime, but it does not happen often. A bit like
the planets aligning — only with dads, daylight, discounts, and football.
A long bright day for family, football, gardens, BBQs,
slightly overdone sausages, and maybe a gift that says: “I remembered.”
So yes, football has started, midsummer is nearly here,
Father’s Day is almost upon us, my paperwork cloud is lifting, and the AW teams
are pushing on through the seasonal madness with good energy.
Thank you as always for being with us.
Enjoy the deals, enjoy the light, enjoy the football if that
is your thing — and if it is not, enjoy the brief moments when everyone else is
distracted.
Peace & Love,
David
